Presenter: Dr. Warren Vander Hill, Provost Emeritus and Professor Emeritus of History at Ball State. During his more than four decades on the BSU faculty, he was involved in a number of oral history projects on the Muncie community. Based on his interviews, he will describe changes in the local Jewish community, specifically Temple Beth El, from 1979, when many of the leaders were downtown merchants, to 2003, when the majority of Jewish leaders were doctors and BSU faculty.

In 1804 while president, Thomas Jefferson found the time to create and publish "The Life and Morals of Jesus," which also became known as "The Jefferson Bible." The work comprised an edited version of the four Gospels, consisting of Jesus' ethics and parables, with all of the miracles removed. Jefferson also hoped that Unitarianism would, within a generation, become the universal faith of the United States. Come to hear Lowell Brummett's presentation and participate in a stimulating discussion regarding this thoughtful and provocative little book.
